Griffin Signs Ltd
Handcrafted signs, from design to installation
Whether you’re an artist or a publican, whether you own a small business or a national hotel chain, Griffin Signs are your perfect partners. We’ve brought together a wealth of craft, art and design experience under the roof of our East London studios, with day-to-day activities ranging from signwriting to 3D moulding, from gilding to vinyl design, and from screen-printing to hand-painting pictorial signs. We work with high-quality materials as varied as timber, acrylics and metal, and employ the latest computer technology alongside our more traditional craft facilities to create that perfect marriage of art and precision.
Our expertise across this wide spectrum of craft skills has allowed us to assemble an equally varied list of clients, with projects ranging from nationwide refits of business premises to one-off commissions for galleries, theatre and television. With all four of our managing directors coming from art school backgrounds, Griffin Signs combines an efficient, professional approach with a keen interest in the quirky and the unusual; we’re just as comfortable working on idiosyncratic ideas involving intricate paintwork as we are cutting steel to create a corporate sheen, or designing bas-relief signs for the tighter budgets of a small business.
Griffin Signs was founded in the early 1990s by Neil and Linda Bailey as a small family signwriting business; today it's a highly-regarded enterprise with such notable clients as Selfridges Hotel and the Royal Society. But whatever your needs may be, and however unusual your vision, we’re here to make it happen. All the members of the Griffin team are available for consultation throughout your project, as we know that proper communication is just as important as the flair of the artwork, or the meticulousness of the craft. So take a look at some examples of our work over the following pages, and drop us a line to discuss your needs. You can guarantee that we can turn your ideas into a very unique kind of sign language.
